 EDDIE VAN HALEN, THE GUITAR VIRTUOSO WHOSE BLINDING SPEED, CONTROL AND INNOVATION PROPEILED HIS BAND VAN HALEN INTO ONE OF THE HARD ROCK'S BIGGEST GROUPS AND BECAME ELEVATED TO THE STATUS OF ROCK GOD HAS DIED.VAN HALEN'S SON, WOLFGANG, SAID IN A TWEET THAT HIS FATHER 'LOST HIS LONG AND ARDUOUS BATTLE WITH CANCER.' ACTRESS VALERIE BERTINELLI, VAN HALEN'S FORMER WIFE OF 26 YEARS AND WOLFGANG'S MOTHER ALSO RETWEETED THE POST BY HIS SON.



WITH HIS DITINCT SOLO'S, EDDIE FUELLED THE ULTIMATE CALIFORNIA PARTY AND HELPED KNOCK OFF DISCO CHARTS IN THE LATE 1970'S WITH HIS BAND'S SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM AND THEN WITH THE BLOCKBUSTER RECORD '1984' , WHICH CONTAIN THE CLASSICS, 'JUMP', 'PANAMA' AND 'FOR THE TEACHER'. VAN HALEN WAS AMONG THE TOP 20 BEST-SELLING ARTITS OF ALL TIME, AND THE BAND WAS INDICATED INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL FAME IN 2007.
